Melbourne Beach Fla.
A pretty teenager found slain with her boyfriend at a lovers lane just south of here was shot 17 times—apparently while her bound companion looked on, authorities said yesterday.
Brevard County Sheriff Leigh Wilson said Connie Ballard, a slender, 17-year-old brunette, had been shot 17 times — all in the front between the head and knees — with a .22 caliber pistol.
"We haven't done an official autopsy," he said, "but it doesn't appear she was sexually assaulted. We haven't established a motive."
The sheriff said no arrests had been made.
The bodies of the girl and her boyfriend, George P. Martin Jr., 19, were found Sunday evening at the end of a dirt road in a heavily wooded area between the ocean and the Indian river, about 12 miles south of here.
Inside the auto, on the rear floorboard, they found Martin in a kneeling position with his hands tied behind his back and his feet bound. He had been shot three times in the head, the officers said.
